Teardown: HUAWEI 120W 6A CC-618 Braided Cable

2026-09-17

HUAWEI has recently launched two fast charging braided cables with maximum current ratings of 6A and 7A, supporting peak charging powers of 120W and 140W respectively.

As cables from the same series, they share an identical design language in terms of performance and appearance, differing only in colour options and specifications. Users can choose according to their actual needs, showing that HUAWEI has fully taken different user groups into consideration.

Even so, some users still wonder whether there are differences in the actual build quality between the two cables. Below, ChargerLAB carries out a detailed teardown of this 6A braided cable. Let’s take a look.

Teardown of Huawei 6A Braided Data Cable

Remove the white plastic shell of the data cable terminal. The interior adopts a metal steel sleeve for enhanced protection, with injection molding applied to both ends of the steel sleeve.Remove the black plastic, and you can see that the steel sleeve is spot-welded to the metal shell of the USB-C male connector. The braided outer jacket of the cable body is clamped tight with metal sheets.

Cut the cable body of the data cable. Beneath the braided outer sheath lies a silicone outer layer, which delivers a pretty good overall hand feel.A high-density shielding mesh is arranged under the outer sheath for anti-interference purposes, and tensile fine threads are also incorporated to improve the overall tensile performance of the cable.

Teardown Summary

This Huawei 6A braided data cable shares the same series design as the previously disassembled 7A version. It features a stylish and refined appearance. Its outer jacket is woven from carefully selected custom yarns, delivering a premium texture and hand feel. The data cable supports a maximum current of 6A, with up to 120W Huawei super fast charging and 100W PD fast charging, meeting daily usage needs for laptops and smartphones. The cable has also passed rigorous tests including 10,000 cycles each of 90° bend resistance, tensile durability and connector plugging/unplugging, ensuring reliable quality.

It is learned through teardown, this data cable adopts consistent build quality. Inside the connector, glue is applied to the small circuit board and a steel sleeve is fitted externally to strengthen the structural integrity of pins and the PCB board. The pins are gold-plated to improve electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance and service life. A high-density shielding mesh inside the cable reduces electromagnetic interference, while tensile fibres are incorporated to enhance the cable’s overall tensile strength and flexibility.
